More than 10 tonnes of cocaine have been discovered in two industrial strongholds in the Spanish town of Águilas, in an operation that has put an Albanian criminal organisation at the centre of investigations.

According to Spanish media, drugs were stored in two industrial environments allegedly used as the basis for collecting and distributing them in Spain and other European countries.

One of the most important details discovered during the investigation is that the addresses to which drugs were to be sent were listed in the cocaine boxes. This element is expected to serve investigators to rebuild the distribution network and identify those behind the traffic organization.

Drugs were discovered in the industrial zone of El Labradorcico, after a cocaine-loaded pallet fell during the dismissal process.

The crash caused damage to some of the cargo and the distribution of several cocaine packages on the canyon floor.

Environmental workers quickly left the vehicle. A municipal police patrol arrived on the scene, which was reported on a possible accident at work, but found no one in the industrial environments.

After the raids, authorities also discovered the second grip, bringing the total amount of cocaine to over 10 tons.

According to reports, more than 5 tons of cocaine has been counted in the first cap, while the discovery of the second environment significantly increased the secuested amount.

The burden value on the illegal market is estimated to be over 100m euros.

Investigators at the Unit for Combating Organised Crime and Drug Trafficking are analyzing the addresses listed in the box to determine the organisation’s cargo destinations and logistical structure.
