At the initial hearing of Dukagjin Lekaj, charged with attempted murder in an attempted assassination of Andy Pajazit at the local Bon Vivant) defence has declared that the accused had voluntarily gone to hand over to the Spanish authorities.

This statement was made today, on November 6, 2026, during the hearing held at the Constitutional Court in Pristina, which is directly monitoring The Signal newspaper.

According to the defence, Lekaj had expressed willingness to surrender to Spain’s authorities, but it was stressed that Kosovo has no agreement with this state, what, according to her, had presented obstacles to the relevant procedures.

These defence claims were presented during the initial review of the criminal case against Lekaj, who was arrested in Spain in April 2025.

Meanwhile, during today’s session, Dukagjin Lekaj has been declared innocent of the criminal offense of the attempted assassination, while acknowledging guilt for criminal acts of ownership, control or unauthorized possession of arms.

What does the indictment of Dukagjit Lekait say?

The Constitutional Prosecutor in Pristina, on October 29, 2026, has filed charges against Dukagjin Lekaj, also known as Dukagjin Nikollaj, over the August 4th 2023 event at the local Ran Vivantı in Pristina, where a person was left dead.

According to the indictment, Lekaj allegedly tried to deprive Andy Pajazit of life, known as Italian.

The prosecution claims that during a crash inside the bar, Lekaj had pulled his gun out of his bag and directed it toward Pajazit, but Hisni Gecaj had intervened with his hand.

On the other hand, according to the indictment, after Pajazit had left the bar, Lekaj had followed him in order to deprive him of life but had failed to carry out his goal after Pajaziti had left.

For these actions, he is tasked with the criminal offence of the attempted assassination by Article 173, paragraph 1, subparagraph 1.5, concerning Article 28 of the Republic of Kosovo’s Criminal Code.

Lekaj is also accused of illegal possession of weapons, for which he has pleaded guilty during the initial hearing.
