Prime Minister Albin Kurti has said the mental health of children and young people should be an integral part of state policies. It has called for institutions to focus on prevention, early identification and offering support to families.
Kurti spoke at a table organised by the prime minister’s office in co-operation with UNICEF. The discussion was based on report published in August by U NICEF and the University of Pristina Institute of Psychology, which reflects mental health services and psychosocial support for children and young people in Kosovo.

Today’s meeting should lead us from evidence to action, Kurt said. He urged that institutions determine which measures should be taken with priority and strengthen co-operation between health, education, social services and justice.
The prime minister also mentioned additions for children, support for lechoa mothers, and the early intervention program for disabled children. According to him, the goal is for children, young people, and their families to know where to turn and receive help on time, wherever they live.
