The Special Prosecutor’s Chief Prosecutor, Dren Paca, has made a decision to change and complete the guide for the daily activity of the Register Office, with the aim of respecting prosecutors’ competencies and functional independence in launching investigations under official office.
According to the Special Prosecution’s announcement, with this change, special prosecutors will be able to request directly from the Register Office the number for registration of the course, to launch investigations under official office, without the need for preliminary authorisation by the chief prosecutor.

The change is aimed at facilitating administrative procedures for the census and inciting prosecutors to initiate criminal investigations, in line with their legal competencies.
The Special Prosecutor has indicated that she remains committed to fighting organised crime and corruption, as well as to investigating all criminal acts that fall into her competence, in line with legislation in force.
