Acting Prime Minister and leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti, has said that six LDK MPs are not respecting the agreement reached between the two parties on the election of the president.
Kurti announced that he held a meeting with representatives of the multiethnic group, which had been arranged earlier, while informing them about the talks and agreement with the LDK, as well as Bekim Sejdiu’s candidacy for president.
“They share the regret with all of us that this cannot be realized, because six MPs from the LDK do not respect this agreement,” Kurti said.
He said that the LVV will continue its efforts to avoid new elections.
“We will continue to move forward, trying to avoid new elections,” Kurti declared.
The leader of the LVV said that, despite yesterday’s negative development, the agreement with the LDK has brought progress in terms of the number of votes for the election of the president.
“Yesterday afternoon there was a negative development, but we have made progress and in this legislature we are better than in the past in terms of the number of votes for president. Feride Rushiti had 64, now Bekim Sejdiu has 74,” he said.
Kurti announced that he will hold internal consultations with the VV leadership.
He also said that during the meeting with the leader of the LDK, Lumir Abdixhiku, he was informed about the current situation within the party, while he also informed Abdixhiku about the developments in VV.
“We continue to be optimistic, although the situation is more difficult than before. Let’s see what we can do in the coming days,” Kurti emphasized.
