Security expert Murat Makolli and former Visar Rrecaj investigators have demanded the resignation of Interior Minister Jelal Svecla, and Justice Minister Donika Grovall, following the assassination of Arlinda Zekit.

Speaking on Five on TV Dukaagjini, Makolli has said that Svecla must take on moral responsibilities, stressing that he has been in charge of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for a full mandate.

According to him, the minister has had to deal with the prevention and treatment of such cases, not only to react after they occur.

The Ministers at least morally look at themselves in the mirror and resign. Because Jedal Svecla is not a month or six months minister, it is a full mandate now five years. He’s the minister of Internal Affairs, and he’s had to deal with these cases because he was the chief security dictatorship. And now it’s taken care of when it happens, when you have consequences, to deal with these cases, is to neglect his work at the ministry. I think I have to resign and to that position come a man who has knowledge of security, to know what to do with security, with the ministry and the police, Makoli has declared.

Former President Visar Rhecaj has also agreed with the request for resignation, saying the ministers have had to take such a step since the first day after the case.

He has criticised, as he has called it, using double standards on the part of ministers, recalling that in the past they have called for resignations on various political issues.

I also agree with Makcol that the ministers, also of Internal Affairs, but also of justice, since the first day the case has happened, had to morally resign from their positions. Politically, too, that shows consistency in their attitudes, because you can’t play with two standards. When five to six years ago in each case have demanded resignations, and when they are in those positions, they say no, we’re not giving up, because we have no reason, Rhecaj has declared.
