US President Donald Trump has declared that Russia and Ukraine, for the first time, are displaying readiness to reach an agreement that would end the war between the two countries. According to him, the negotiations are marking progress, while a possible agreement would have great significance and would include Europe.
Trump has announced that he has conducted several phone conversations under diplomatic efforts to end the conflict, while warning even meetings for Monday and Tuesday.

Russia and Ukraine, for the first time, want to reach a deal. It will be a very big deal and it will include Europe, the American president said.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Voldymyr Zelensky has vowed to meet with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, but has ruled out the possibility of such a meeting being held in Moscow.
In an interview for CNN, Zelensky stressed that Ukraine urgently needs air defence and missile systems to deal with Russian attacks. He voiced hope that Trump would manage to persuade Putin to sit at the negotiating table.
We need air protection and rockets because we want to survive. We want to live until Trump makes Putin negotiate. He can do that. We’re willing to meet him in every country, but not Moscow, the Ukrainian president declared.
Zelensky also spoke of the security agreement the Trump administration is expected to propose to Ukraine, voicing concern that it could contain risks for the country’s future.
We’re all in Europe. We don’t want a Yalta 2. We do not want to separate from Russia, he said, referring to the Yalta Conference in 1945, where great powers discussed the spheres of influence in Europe.
