The liver is one of the most important organs of the human body, as it performs hundreds of vital functions, including the cleaning of blood from waste, the filtering of chemicals from drugs, alcohol, and food, and the preservation of nutrients.
However, identifying the liver – related pain may be difficult, since the organ itself has no pain receptors.

According to Health.com, when the liver is inflammated, damaged, or affected by a disease, it can exert pressure on the protective tissue around it, known as Glisson’s capsule.
This tissue contains sensitive nerves about pain, which can send signals to the brain when the liver is affected.
Where can the liver hurt feel?
The liver is located on the upper right of the abdomen, below the lower ribs, and below the diaphragm.
Hence, the pain associated with liver problems can be felt on the upper right of the abdomen, near the chest cage.
In some cases, concern may spread to other areas of the body, including shoulders, backs, and other parts of the abdomen.
However, the pain in these areas does not necessarily mean that the cause is the liver, since it can be linked to other health problems. If the pain persists or is associated with other symptoms, consultation with the doctor is recommended.
