Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has indicated that the 2027 budget bill is expected to be adopted Monday at the government’s next meeting, warning that for the first time, the budget for capital investments will exceed the value of one billion euros.

During the speech at the meeting of the Vetevendosje Movement General Council, Kurti said that next year’s budget would be oriented towards capital projects, accelerating economic growth and improving the quality of jobs.

This is the budget of roads, railways, and dams. For the first time, the budget for capital investments will exceed 1 billion euros, Kurti said.

He announced that the budget for municipalities would total 908m euros, naming it a two-thirds increase compared to the budget the Government had inherited.

Kurti said this increase results from continued support through government grants.

The Government head also spoke of funds Kosovo is expected to benefit from the European Union and international financial mechanisms.

According to him, for 2026;2027 Kosovo is expected to benefit 180.5m euros from pre-membership IPA funds, while this year it has also secured 119m euros in grants from the Investment Frame for the Western Balkans.

Of these grants, 90m euros have been earmarked for the sewage plant in Pristina and 23.8m euros for the plant in Podujevo.

Kurti also cited 61.8m euros in pre-finance from the Growth Plan as well as the requirement for the release of 153m euros for reforms implemented by June.

He said the government is accelerating steps to meet the December deadline, following delays that, according to him, have been caused by political blockades.

Meanwhile, Kurti stressed that approval of the SEPA law on October 15th is expected to enable citizens and savings businesses of about 55m euros annually from bank transfers.

He added that Kosovo is also negotiating to join the European Union’s roaming area, through scheme quem Like at Home, which aims at lowering phone costs during travel to EU countries. /Telegraphy/
