Alliance for Future of Kosovo ( The AAK has led sharp criticism of the Government for economic policies, raising concerns about the high trade deficit and lack of support for local producers and farmers.
Through a response published on the official Facebook page, the Alliance has declared that Kosovo continues to be highly dependent on import, while local production, according to it, is not receiving the necessary institutional attention and support.
According to figures presented by the AAK, for every euro goods Kosovo exports, it imports 7.5 euros from abroad.
The opposition party has stressed that during 2025 alone, the value of imports has been for 6.1 billion euros higher than that of exports, naming the situation as a concern for the country’s economic development.
The Alliance has criticised the executive for the way it is presenting the economic situation, claiming that the Government is boasting about revenues collected by citizens, while producing businesses and farmers continue to face high costs.
Kosovo cannot be developed by buying everything from others and leaving its production neglected, says the Alliance’s response.
In this direction, the AAK has recalled its economic proposals, included in the six-point plan, through which it aims to create more favourable conditions for local production and business development.
Among the proposed measures are the increasing local power generation capacities, the use of American gas and the construction of new energy capacities, with the aim of providing more sustainable supply and lowering costs for the economy.
Also, the Alliance has proposed lifting property taxes for farmers and facilitating the burden of the State Value Tax ( TV S) for small businesses.
According to this party, local production support and strengthening of the private sector are among the main steps for reducing Kosovo’s dependence on import and improving trade balance.
