Kosovo’s Special Prosecutorial Prosecutors could directly request the number for the census office, with the aim of launching investigations according to official duty, without the prosecutor’s prior authorisation.

The decision was made by Special Prosecutor Dren Paca’s Chief Prosecutor, who has changed and complements the Guide for the Day Action of the Register Office in the institution.

According to the Prosecutorial System’s announcement, the change is aimed at facilitating administrative procedures for the census and inciting prosecutors to initiate criminal investigations under official office, in line with their legal competencies.

The Special Prosecutor’s Chief Prosecutor’s Task Agent, Mr. Dren Paca, has ruled on the change and completion of the Guide for Day Action of the Special Prosecutor’s Office, in harmony and respect of the prosecutors’ functional competencies and independence for the initiative of investigations on official duty, says the Prosecutorial System’s announcement.
