There have been seven numbers of people who have lost their lives as a result of the clash of two trains near the town of Giza in Egypt, while more than 100 others have been injured.

According to Egyptian authorities, the two trains traveling south, one of Giza’s to Fauum, and the other from Cairo to Asswan, have crashed, causing some cars to come out of the tracks and collapse.

Numerous emergency teams have been sent to the scene, while the wounded have been transported to nearby hospitals, which have been put on increased readiness to cope with the flow of patients.

The Health Ministry announced that the wounded have largely suffered fractures and head injuries. Among the victims is the leader of one of the trains.

The Public Prosecutor has warned that the number of victims could increase, while Egyptian President Abdul Fattah al-Ass has ordered the investigation into the circumstances of the accident and the accountability of anyone resulting in neglecting the task.

Because of the accident, the flow of trains between Giza and the region of Upper Egypt has been suspended.

The crash occurred near the area where one of Egypt’s worst railway tragedies had occurred in February 2002 when more than 370 people were officially killed by the fire on a passenger train.
