From November 15th to March 15th, all drivers are obliged to possess winter equipment, in line with regulations on mandatory equipment for safe participation in road traffic.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has called on citizens to respect this legal obligation, stressing the importance of winter safety equipment on the road during difficult atmospheric conditions.

According to the regulation in effect, for maximum vehicles allowed up to 200 pounds [3,500 kg], winter equipment means the use of winter tires on four wheels, with minimal depth of four millimeter profile.

The alternative is the four – wheel summer tyres, which are deep in the profile of at least four millimeters, provided the vehicle is equipped with snow chains suitable for moving wheels or other relevant equipment.

At the same time, for vehicles with the attractions on all four wheels (454), demand is more specific. In the case of the use of winter tires, they must be on all four wheels and have minimal depth of the six – inch [6 mm] profile.

If summer tires are used, they should have a profile of at least four millimeters, and the vehicle should be equipped with snow chains. Their location depends on the type of vehicle transmission.

The regulation also stipulates that winter tires are regarded as having notes MSH, AM+SH, M & SH, as well as the symbol of the snow hair inside a stylized three – peak mountain.

Also, the use of sting tyres in road traffic is prohibited.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs appeals to all traffic participants to ensure that their vehicles are equipped according to legal requirements, with the aim of preventing accidents and ensuring road safety during the winter season.
