U.S. shoots a cargo ship in Oman Bay, allegedly breaching Iran’s blockade

An American military plane has hit a cargo ship in Oman Bay, after it allegedly violated the United States naval blockade imposed on Iranian ports.

The event occurred on Saturday, November 7th, when American forces targeted the M/V Huda ship, which sailed under the flag of St. Kits and Nesvis.

According to US Central Command ( CENTCOM), the U.S. aircraft, used precise ammunition to hit the back of the ship in order to stop it and to escape navigation.

American authorities claim the ship was approaching an Iranian port and was trying to leave the area in opposition to the naval blockade. According to CENTCOM, the crew had ignored several repeated warnings and had tried several times to breach the restrictions imposed.

Before the intervention, American forces had ordered crew members to leave the area to be hit. However, no details were given in the published statement whether there were injuries or the damage inflicted on the ship.

CENTCOM announced that 147 commercial ships have obeyed American orders and changed their course, while five others have been detained after refusing to follow instructions.

The American Command also stated that it had earlier destroyed ten Iranian tankers, which connects them to a network of Iranian Revolutionary Guard.

Shooting the M/V Huda ship is the first US-announced attack on a cargo ship in the area in about a month. On October 10th, US forces hit the Ocean Molica tank in Oman Bay, which Washington claimed was also sailing from an Iranian port.

Meanwhile, according to CENTCOM’s assessment, the maritime blockade has hampered Iranian crude oil exports worth over $25 billion. This claim by the American authorities has not been independently verified.
