Kosovo Serbs voted 71,63 per cent for Vuciki list

According to an article in the Serbian newspaper ‘%Danas’, voters at 60 polling stations in areas around Tutini, Vranje, Kursumli and Raska (where Kosovo Serbs voted) have given the United Serbia List, led by Vuciqi, 71,63 per cent of the vote.

According to the Republika Election Commission data, with 58 of the 60 locations processed for the Kosovo region, turnout was 64.8 percent. Vuciqi’s list received 71,63 per cent of the vote, while the Students List, 21.09 per cent. The Socialist Party of Serbia received 3.16 per cent.

However, the Student List scored best in Zvecan and in the northern part of Mitrovica, where it received more than 32 per cent of the vote.

Marko Jaksic from the Kosovo Serb movement Otad ‘%bina, which supported the Student List, praised for Danas that Kosovo Serb votes for Vuciqi do not reason his policy on Kosovo.

There is no excuse for the fact that Kosovo Serbs gave Vucinqi the most votes, even though they are victims and the biggest victims of his faithless policies. In psychiatry, this is called political masocism. It’s a special phenomenon. On Sunday, I spent the entire day waiting an hour and a half to go out and just as much to enter Kosovo and three more hours in line to vote in Ribaric, seeing all those people who are actually not voting for a hero, but for a piece of bread and privileges they have, Yaxsic said.

He has said he believes Serbs from Kosovo who voted for Vuciqi on Sunday will not find it difficult to change their political opinion and vote for those who come to power in the upcoming presidential elections.

This applies to the Serbian List and their mayors of majority Serb municipalities in Kosovo. The SNS itself will not be a strong opposition to the Serbian parliament, as Vucic claims, because it will be dissolved when the first trials for looting and corruption begin, Jaksic says.

When asked what she expects from the Students’ List and its government, because the Memorandum of the Kosovo Serb Students, who was supported only by Kosovo Serbs, did not mention much in the election campaign, Jaksic replied that the most important thing for Kosovo is for the new government to maintain the Serbian Constitution, as he said the Student List has not stressed Kosovo’s question during the campaign, not to cause clashes with the European Union, most of the member states that have recognised Kosovo as a state.

Political analyst Dusan Janjic estimated that the new Serbian government would face restrictions inherited from previous governments and would need diplomatic and political courage, as well as a strategic partnership with the United States of America.

According to him, the new government’s first priority will not be Kosovo, but the stabilisation of Serbia’s institutions. However, he stressed that the government must take into account international obligations and the consequences of previous decisions.

Whether Anna Brnabyk signed the Agreement on Normalisation of Relations with Pristina with the EU Directorate for External Relations, which is a betrayal, is unknown. But even if it is signed, it is not valid, because it does not include Chapter 35 for Serbia. The procedure is such that when the agreement is finalised, Serbia has three years to harmonise its legislation and constitution with it, and only then can it unilaterally recognise Kosovo. Serbia’s new government, whose priority will not be Kosovo, but the stabilisation of institutions, should account for many of its predecessors’ failures, international legal obligations, as well as the fact that the expectations and promises of some Serbs from Kosovo are beyond reality, Janjiq told Danas.

He said the new government should appoint an official negotiator for Kosovo and clearly define Serbia’s principles and requirements in the dialogue. He criticised the current practice of holding negotiations away from the public.
