Google has noted an important step in its project to build space data centres.
The experimental satellite of the Suncatcher project, launched earlier this month with a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, has started operating and communicated with land stations.

The satellite is equipped with four Tensor processors ( TPU), designed to process Al.
During the first test, engineers asked the Gemma 4, installed on satellite, to write a short poem about space.
Google confirmed that the satellite is functioning normally, while tests will focus on the resistance of processes to extreme temperatures and spatial radiation.
If the results are positive, the company plans to launch two more satellites in 2027, with greater energy capacity and laser optical connections.
The project aims at creating satellite networks that will function as data centres in orbit, processing large loads of artificial intelligence. Google aims to make this technology economically convenient during the 1920s.
