Former US President Barack Obama has toughened criticism of President Donald Trump, accusing his administration of corruption, accountability and wrong strategy against Iran.

During election gatherings in Cleveland and Detroit, Obama called on voters to use the November 3rd election to contain, as he described, the reckless actions of the republican president.

In Michigan, where he was campaigning for the Democrat candidate for the Senate, Abdul El-Sayed, the former president accused Trump of using his position for personal gain.

We have never seen a president profit this way, directly at the expense of taxpayers, Obama said.

He also criticised the Republicans, claiming the party is tolerate corruption, disability and lack of accountability in government.

Obama also questioned the administration’s claims of victory over Iran. According to him, the conflict has increased Tehran’s economic impact, while threats to shipping in Hormuz Strait have increased uncertainty in global oil markets.

Iran now has veto power over the Strait of Hormuz, through which oil passes to reach world markets, he said.

During the speech, Obama also inaugurated US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, claiming that the administration is focusing on trivial issues instead of the country’s main problems.

He commented ironically also on the luxurious renovations of the White House, which compared them to the style of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.

Obama’s critics come a few days before the US Muslim elections, which will determine which party will control the American Congress.
