According to reports, the agreement between the two clubs is in an advanced phase, although there is still no official confirmation from the parties to organise this confrontation.

Messi had announced in August the decision to end her career with the Argentina representative, which won a World Cup and two Copa América trophies.

His farewell from the national was an emotional moment, as the Argentine star greeted thousands of fans, including the 126th goal with the representative’s lantern.

If the friendly is confirmed, the return of 39-year-old to the homeland is expected to be accompanied by extraordinary interest from fans.

Messi is the goalist and football player with the highest performance in the history of the Argentinian national, while a confrontation against River Plate would give him the opportunity to return to the place where he started his journey to world football peaks.
