Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez is going through a very difficult time, as some of his mistakes have directly affected the team’s results.

Martinez is experiencing one of the most difficult periods in his career, after being named the weakest player of the current season at the Premier League, according to an analysis published by The Athletic.

The Argentinian defender has made some decisive mistakes in Manchester United’s matches, becoming one of the most critical football players at the beginning of this season.

Next and card error against Chelsea

His problems began in the 1-1 draw against Fulham, where he scored an autogong. In the next match against Tottenham, which ended with the same result, Martinez failed to stop Dominic Solanden, who scored with his head.

The situation didn’t even improve in the 3-0 loss to Bournemouth at Old Tuffford. Brazilian attacker Rayan easily crossed the Arginas, who failed to stop his opponent.

Even in the 5-2 victory over Ipswich, Martinez made a mistake when Chuba Akpom took the ball and scored, although this time it did not affect the final outcome.

His appearance towards Chelsea was especially disappointing. Initially, he held responsibility for Morgan Rogers’ goal, and then was punished with red card after a clash with Wesley Fofan. At that moment, Manchester Unitedi was losing 2-0.

From one of the best to a future in question

However, the analysis stresses that Martinez is not a weak footballer. He had held two very good seasons of Manchester United, while his absence of injury during 2025 had been noticeably on the team.

One possible reason for poor shape may be physical fatigue after an intensive World Championship with Argentina, where defenders had played the ongoing games.

According to the analysis, Manchester Unitedi cannot continue to lose point because of such mistakes. It is even a matter of the silverite’s future at Old Tuffford, with the possibility of a transfer to Atletico Madrid, where it could be reunited with the contemporary Cristian Romero.. /Telegraphy/
