Kremlin: Putin would respond to a call from Zelensky, Russia seeks trilateral negotiations

Russian President Vladimir Putin would respond to a call from Ukrainian counterpart Voldymyr Zelensky, if the latter would seek contact, as Moscow has never rejected the talks. The statement was made by Kremlin adviser Yuri Usakov, according to the Interfax news agency.

I believe he would answer, of course. Putin has never rejected the talks, Usshakov said.

He stressed that the first round of negotiations for Ukraine should be held in a trilateral format involving Russia, the United States and Ukraine.

Asked whether European countries should participate in the negotiations, the Kremlin adviser said that since Moscow has business contacts with Washington, it is logical that the talks will initially take place between the three sides.

The statement comes at a time when discussions on the possibility of restarting diplomatic negotiations to end the war in Ukraine follow.
