The Court of Appeals has increased the sentence of the Union to 10 years in prison, convicted of serious murder in an attempt on his wife and minor daughter in Prizren.

The Appeals Department for Crime has partially approved the Constitutional Prosecutor’s complaint in Prizren and has changed the seven-year-six-month sentence the first-instance court has pronounced.

According to Appeals’ announcement, the court estimated that the Constitutional Court in Prizren had confirmed the facts of the case directly and fully. However, Appeals appreciated that the initial sentence was too mild in proportion to the risk of criminal activity and its consequences.

The signal newspaper had exclusively discovered Gashi’s identity on October 17th 2025, the day the attack occurred. The two injured had suffered severe stab wounds and had been sent to Prizren Hospital for treatment.

The signal also reported from the 26 October session at the Court of Appeals, where Gashi apologized to his wife.

The 10-year sentence will also account for the time spent in detention. Apelli made it known that the full justice is not publicised, as the case relates to a criminal offence committed within family relations.
