Spanish authorities have seized one of the largest quantities of drugs in the country’s history, of 10 tonnes of cocaine.
The giant cargo was found within two warehouses in the industrial area of El Labradorcico, in the coastal town of Águilas. According to the first data from the Civil Guard, this large logistical centre was allegedly managed by a criminal organisation of Albanian origin.

Spanish Medes report that the large amount of drugs was not discovered by police but by human error. One worker was maneuvering a standing fork during the movement of the gym, accidentally overturning one of them.
From it came the package of cocaine as the panic worker escaped, leaving drugs on the ground. That’s enough for the Civil Guard to intervene. When agents stormed into the first warehouse they found over 5 tonnes of cocaine packed for distribution. Authorities obtained judicial permission to check even a second adjacent cap, which also functioned without any sign or name company.
Another massive amount of drugs was found inside it, bringing the total balance of selection to about 10 tonnes of cocaine. The total value of seized cargo accounts for between 130m and 145m euros.
Sources near the investigative group suggest that warehouses at Águilas served as a central logistical point. Drugs came from Latin America, stored in Agoilas, and then packed and distributed in trucks to various Central and Northern European countries.
Spanish investigators are convinced that behind this complex logistics lies a powerful network of the Albanian mafia. The industrial area where the record amount of drugs was seized remains surrounded by numerous police forces, while agents are tracking security cameras and ghost business documentation to fall on the heads of this network.
