The founder of the Humanitarian Law Fund, Natasa Ka persecuted, has criticised Serbia for denying and distorting evidence proven through war crimes-related judicial processes, stressing that court decisions are being replaced with a so-called real population .
In a response to the European Union’s ambassador to Serbia, Andreas von Beckerat, Khaw has stated that, in addition to warning that the legalisation of convicted war criminals is contrary to European values, the practice of denying crimes and distorting facts should also be addressed.
According to her, the major deviations relate to the genocide in Srebrenica and the victims of war in Kosovo.
Facing the past is demanding that these practices be discontinued, he has stressed.
It has cited the Fund’s documentation of Humanitarian Law, which contains data on human losses in Kosovo and documents the individual fate of victims, regardless of their ethnic affiliation.
The prosecution has disclosed that the Fund has access to judicial documents, family and witness evidence, as well as video recordings of the evidence given before the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, concerning wars fought since 1991.
According to her, these materials can also help Serbia’s War Crimes Prosecutor, but only if it acts independently and relies on evidence, not on political guidelines.
The independence of the judiciary, which the EU insists on, should also be extended to the prosecution of war crimes, she has declared.
In her response, Ka persecuted has called on the European Union to provide political and financial support for the involvement of students and young people in the 1990s wars research so that they can examine the evidence and create a critical approach to the past.
