jetton’s got a gun. I feel so threatened. Arlinda Zekaj warned the police months before they were killed, no one verified the weapon found after the tragedy.

New and disturbing details have come to light over the tragic murder of Arlinda Zekiaj, who was killed on October 25th 2026 in Vitomirica in Pec. The victim had warned Kosovo Police since July that her former husband, Jeton Sylaj, owned firearms and that she felt threatened by it. However, according to the State Prosecutor’s Office report, institutions had not taken concrete action to verify the weapon.

According to reports, on July 10, 2026, Arlinda Zekaj was presented at the Police Station in Pec, where she had declared that her former husband had threatened her with death and had expelled her from home.

During her statements to police investigators, she had shown that Sylaj Living owned firearms with permission, while expressing concern for her safety.

You live in a firearm with your permission. He never threatened me with a gun. I don’t know where the gun is. But I feel that many people are in danger of living here.

Police and Prosecution were notified, but the weapon was not verified.

According to the Kosovo Police Inspectorate report, the police investigator staying Sheremetti had announced the caretaker prosecutor, Sadije Muriqi, regarding the Arlinda statement.

However, the report shows that no concrete action was taken for the sequencing of the weapon.

Contrary to this in terms of the statement that the suspect owns weapons, no concrete action was taken to sequencing the weapon, the IPK report said.

The gun was found in Sylvia’s house only after the murder.

Another important element emerges from the national co-ordinator’s assessment of domestic violence at Chief State Prosecutor Ersan Qavolli’s Office.

According to him, the institutions had not even verified through the official system if Sylay lives owned weapons with permission, nor if the weapon was in his house.

Only after the murder of Arlinda Zekit, a gun had been found at her ex-husband’s house.

From this point on, the issue of the weapon mentioned by the victim has not been dealt with has not been first verified through the system if Celay lives holding weapons with permission, has not been verified in his home if there are weapons at home and other important issues that, after the critical incident, result in a gun found in Sylaj’s home, it is said at the Qavoll assessment.

The chief prosecutor of Peja was also aware

According to the report, for the circumstances of the case and the victim’s statement regarding the weapon, the chief prosecutor of the Founding Prosecutor in Pec, Joy Vucetaj had also been informed.

For all these circumstances, the chief prosecutor of the Constitutional Prosecution Vucetaj has also been known, says the report.

The national co-ordinator has estimated that regardless of the time the weapon was reported, the institutions should have taken action to verify it.

I also appreciate that despite the fact that the weapon was reported on in July 2026, it had to be verified for this weapon, Qavoli stressed.

The Canning Case has been initiated since July

From the report’s data, it turns out that to Jeton Sylajt was initiated criminal cases of rowing as early as July, while the indictment was set up on October 23, 2026.

The report also refers to the Law on Weapons, under which circumstances related to domestic violence and criminal investigations may provide a basis for the sequencing of weapons and revocation of permits.

However, according to the report’s findings, the weapon reported by the victim had not been verified before her murder.

Murder that shocked Kosovo

Arlinda Zekaj was killed on October 25th, 2026 in Vitomirica in Peja, while the top suspect in the murder is her brother-in-law, Albert Sylaj.

According to data thus far, the victim was allegedly hit with a strong tool.

It should be noted that the report does not specify any connection between the weapon found at the home of Sylade and the murder of Arlinda.

However, nonversification of the weapon, despite the victim’s warning, constitutes one of the cases recorded in the report concerning the institutional treatment of the case.

Why wasn’t the weapon that Arlinda Zekaj had reported months before the assassination confirmed and will anyone be held responsible for the failure to proceed in the report?

These are among the questions posed after publishing the findings on how institutions had addressed the victim’s warnings.
