An unusual event has occurred near Zagreb, where a luxury Bugatti Chiron car, worth about two million euros, has been stolen from an object of the luxury carmaker Bugatti’s company.
The vehicle belongs to the company’s executive director, Mate Rimac, who showed through a video published in Instagram how the theft happened and how the vehicle was recovered.
According to him, the thief had managed to take the car after he had left the keys inside – a practice he had been following for years.
After realizing that the car had been stolen, Rimac was chased after the thief with a 911 Porsche while using Bugatt’s tracking system to convey his movements.
He announced the police that the car was moving towards Slovenia. Thanks to information shared by Rimac with authorities, Austrian police managed to locate the car and arrest the suspect.
Standing near the restored Bugatt, Rimac acknowledged that he will now change his habit of leaving the keys inside the cars.
He explained that he did so for practical reasons so that company workers could move vehicles without having to contact him.
I’ve been doing this for years and nothing’s happened until now. I’m not gonna do this anymore and don’t try your luck anymore, said Rimac.
The event ended with the recovery of a luxury car, while the theft suspect ended up in Austrian police handcuffs.
