Research highlights the role of orgasm in the delight of women but also something else that can significantly affect the quality of intimate relations
A new Italian study has revealed that the sexual pleasure of women is more closely linked to the frequency of experiencing orgasm than to men. However, intimate experience is determined not only by physical pleasure but also by the quality of relationships, emotional closeness, and communication with one’s mate.

The research, conducted by Italian scholars, including the University of Turin, included 579 heterosexuals, aged 18 to 60 who were in stable relationships.
The results, published in the scientific magazine Sexulity & CultureThey showed that men experienced orgasms more often, but in women, her frequency had stronger ties to general sexual pleasure.
Why is orgasm more related to the pleasure of women?
According to researchers, in both genders the frequency of orgasm was linked to easier sexual awakening, the greatest desire for intimacy, and more varied sexual experiences.
However, the most pronounced differences were seen in the way the orgasm was related to pleasure.
Women who experienced orgasms most often also reported greater satisfaction from intimate relations, stronger emotional closeness, and better relationships with their partner.
In men, these relationships were weaker, while the frequency of orgasm was more about the diversity of sexual experiences.
Communication and emotional closeness are of particular importance
Researchers noted that women who communicated more openly with their partner about sexual desires and fantasies, as well as those most often experienced oral stimuli, also reported more frequent orgasms.
These results highlight the importance of knowing the wishes of the partner, understanding and mutual communication.
Instead of having partners assume what pleases the other person, open conversation about needs and preferences can help improve the quality of intimate life.
In men, the frequency of orgasm was also associated with the use of sex aids and the consumption of erotic content.

95 percent of men versus 65 percent of women
The differences in the experience of orgasm are also recorded in previous studies.
An American study of 52,588 participants, originally published in 2017 in the magazine Archives of Sexual Behavior, showed that about 95 percent of heterosexual men claimed that they usually or always experienced orgasms during sexual intimacy.
In heterosexual women, this percentage was only 65 percent.
This distinction is known in scientific literature as the gap in orgasm and reflects changes in the frequency of reaching a climax.
Does the most frequent orgasm mean even greater satisfaction?
The authors of the Italian study point out that the results do not testify that the most frequent orgasms directly cause greater sexual satisfaction.
It is possible that a better relationship, better communication, and emotional closeness also affect the sexual satisfaction and frequency of orgasm.
Furthermore, research relied on the participants’ personal answers and involved only heterosexuals in stable relationships, so the results cannot be generalized for all.
The main message of the study, however, is that sexual pleasure depends not only on physical action but also on attention, trust, communication, and understanding between partners. /Telegraphy/
