Luis de la Fuente is trying to solve two problems simultaneously during this long international holiday. Spain wants to continue its winning series and expand its invincible series, but at the same time it must be careful not to overload its players. That’s why the Spanish coach is constantly rotating.
In the first three matches of this international campaign, he never repeated the same never-titled formation, and players who normally have the status of regular first team players were also removed from the team.
Problems started before the first fight. Pedro Porro was expelled because of an injury and replaced by Ivan Fresnezda. Eric Garcia was hurt during the heat before the match with England, Alex Grimaldo was absent in Seville, and after the match with Croatia, Nico Williams and Ferran Torres had problems.
No player will play more than 270 minutes
Before the match against Croatia, De la Fuente explained how he plans to distribute the minutes. Journal Marca calls this a complex formula.
We’ve always fielded the best team for the game ahead. That’s how we worked all the way through this race. No one will play more than 270 minutes, or three out of four games. That’s what most people will play, De La Fuente said.
This rule is now visible in numbers. Lamine Yamal played at least 203 minutes. It appeared in all three matches, scored four goals and recorded two assets. Rodri is behind him in 185 minutes, while Marc Pubil, Pau Cubbars, Marc Cucurella, Aymeric Laporte and Unai Simon have each played 180 minutes.
He also changed the doorkeeper
De la Fuente made a rotation in almost every position. In Oviedo, he even switched doorkeeper, giving David Raya a chance instead of Unai Simon.
It is difficult to maintain a balance between results and the health of players. We’re doing our best. Fights must be won, but health is the most important thing. We’ll see if there’ll be more injuries. Some will probably feel more tired by Tuesday. And our opponents also, De La Fuente said after winning the Czech Republic. /Telegraphy/
