Ukraine’s president, Voldymyr Zelensky, has dismissed claims that his country is losing its fight with Russia, stressing that the loss of human lives remains one of the most painful consequences of the conflict.

We are not losing this war, but we are losing people, he declared, underlining that war is taking away the opportunity to have a childhood and a normal life.

The Ukrainian leader has stressed that the outcome of the war as soon as necessary, while expressing hope that international partners — especially the United States and European countries — will continue to assist Ukraine.

Speaking in Oslo, Zelensky has also commented on talks with US President Donald Trump’s envoy, Steve Witkoff, suggesting that the parties have discussed some concrete ideas about achieving peace.

According to him, one of the possibilities is to organise a trilateral meeting among leaders, aimed at addressing issues that can only be solved at the highest political level.

Zelensky has indicated that Wtkoff is expected to travel to Russia, where he will hold talks, while he has said it remains to be seen what position Russian President Vladimir Putin will take.

He has also commented on reports of possible tripartite talks between the United States, Russia and China, insisting that no agreement on Ukraine’s future can be reached without its involvement.
