The English team also took advantage of the expulsion of an Italian player, while goalkeeper Mike Maignan became one of the negative protagonists of the evening.

Bournemouth started the match with a lot of energy and went to the top after an episode ended with the penalty. After a bow of Marcus Tavernier, the ball touched the hand of Connie De Winter, and the judge, after consulting the VAR system, awarded the penalty.

From the white spot, Justin Cloiverst was accurate, giving the local team the advantage. The Dutch striker thus recalled his father’s goal, Patrick Kluivert, in the 1995 Champions League final against Milan.

Bournemouth continued to dominate and reached second goal after another episode ended with penalty. Gatekeeper Mike Maignan struck Tyler Adams in the small area with another reason to show the white spot.

This time, Marcus Tavernier took responsibility and sent the ball to the net, bringing the score to 2-0.

In the second part, Bournemouth carefully managed the advantage, while Coach Marco Rose made several replacements to preserve the team’s coolness. However, the English did not give up attacks, and they had other opportunities to deepen the outcome.

Milan, difficult even by numberic inferiority, found it difficult to create dangerous cases. An attempt by Sankhoun Diawara failed to surprise goalkeeper Michelle Di Gregorio, while Bournemouth continued to control the game.

The third goal came to an end, when Amine Adli carried out a fine penalty shot of about 25m, sealing victory 3-0.

This result represents a milestone for Bournemouth, who became the first English team in more than 50 years to win the first three European major matches.

Also, the English club registered its first victory over Milan with a three-go goals margin in Europe since Paris Saint-Germain’s 3-0 triumph in October 2023.
