Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has met with Ireland’s State Minister for European Affairs and Protection, Thomas Byrne, in the Magnaries of the Berlin Process Leaders Summit, which is being held in Montenegro.
Through a Facebook post, Kurti has announced that he has thanked Byrne for Ireland’s continued support of Kosovo, as well as for his contribution to the country’s security through the KFOR mission.
Kurti has stressed that more than 3,000 members of the Irish Army have served in Kosovo since 1999, while over 1,000 Albanian refugees from the war in Kosovo have taken refuge in Ireland.
During the meeting, according to Kurti, it has also been discussed on Kosovo’s European road and the necessary steps for its progress towards membership in the European Union.
He has stressed that November is important in this direction, expressing the expectation that the European Commission Report will reflect the progress achieved and that Kosovo will receive the European Commission questionnaire.
With our partners we continue to work to make Kosovo’s democratic progress and European commitment translate into concrete steps towards membership in the European Union, Kurti has written.
