If he feels ashamed or neglected, he will do something bold, a US official told Axios, adding that this is the message being conveyed to Iranian officials, who are told the best opportunity to reach an agreement is now.
A White House official dismissed the idea, telling the media that the election results will not affect Trump’s decisions regarding Iran.

According to the report, mediators from Qatar spent more than 12 hours Friday in Tehran, maintaining regular contact with the White House in an effort to resume direct talks between Washington and Tehran. A diplomatic source described the performance as positive, while discussions are expected to continue Saturday in Doha.
According to an American official, the talks have stalled due to opposing demands. Washington wants concessions on the nuclear issue as a condition for return to negotiations, while Tehran insists that the US initially remove the naval blockade, release frozen funds and allow the sale of oil.
The report stresses that Doha is calling on Iran to allow UN inspectors to enter its bombed nuclear facilities in exchange for limiting sanctions.
Referring to divisions within the Trump circle, the report says Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, and State Secretary Marco Rubio are sceptical of reaching an agreement and favouring further weakening of Iranian leadership. On the other hand, vice president JD Vance and envoy Steve Whitoff and Jared Kouchner support the resumption of talks.
Reporting comes at a time of increased tensions between Iran and the US over the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway for global energy transport.
The US and Israel launched attacks on Iran on 28 February, prompting Iranian responses in the region.
Despite later diplomatic efforts and a memorandum signed by Washington and Tehran in June, tensions have continued over security agreements and navigation across the straits.
