The agency suggests that controls will include analyzing milk and processed products for content of fats, proteins, palm oil, powder milk, afloxins, antibiotics and other illicit substances.

According to AUV, the programme is part of the Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development initiative, Armend Muja, for strengthening sector supervision and early identification of risks.

AUV points out that the results of analyses and inspections will serve to determine risk levels and orientation to higher risk products and activities.

In cases of meeting differences, relevant legal measures will be undertaken, including bans on trade, attracting informal products and initiated procedures on responsible operators, AUV reports.

According to the Agency, the programme is aimed at protecting public health, improving milk quality and safety, as well as closing Kosovo’s standards with European Union legislation.
