Vetevendosje Movement MP Artan Abrashi has called for the clarification of all decisions and institutional in the case of the murder of Arlinda Zekiaj, as well as the launch of criminal investigations on responsible persons.

During the declaration in the Assembly, Abrashi raised questions about dealing with threats to Zekiaj, the Constitutional Court’s decision in Pec on the defence order and risk assessment before she returned home.

He criticised the defence order, which, according to him, allowed the approach up to two metres inside the house, asking what protection such a measure could offer for a threatened woman.

Abrashi has stressed that Zekiaj’s lawyer had warned of the danger, denounced violations and sought disciplinary investigation, but the request was rejected by Peja’s chief prosecutor.

The Founding Court in Pec issued a defense order that allowed for a nearly six – foot [2 m] approach to the house. Two meters! What protection is this? A woman threatened by two men is forced to live two meters away from one from whom she sought protection. Not a foot apart. This is cruelty, not justice. The lawyer had warned of the danger, denounced violations, and requested disciplinary investigation. Peja’s chief prosecutor rejected the request, he stressed.

He also raised questions about the decision to escort Zekiaj home on October 25th and its security assessment, stressing that she was killed just minutes after police left.

Abrashi demanded that the Prosecutorial Council and the Judiciary Council immediately clear up any decisions, guidelines and inactions related to the case, identify those responsible and launch appropriate procedures.

Let those responsible identify themselves and start appropriate procedures immediately. Not enough disciplinary measures. It takes criminal investigation as soon as possible. No more minutes, Abrashi declared himself in the Assembly.
