Alexander Volkanovski has continued to write history in the UFC after defeating Movsar Evloev with technical knockout in the second round, defending the champion’s title in the category of up to 66kg.
The confrontation took place under UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi, where the Australian champion ended the war seconds before the end of the second round, after a powerful combination of blows that brought down the Russian opponent and forced the judge to stop the duel.
This was the first defeat in Evloev’s professional career, which until this confrontation had recorded 20 consecutive victories.
Meanwhile, the triumph was of particular importance to Volkanovski, who recorded the ninth victory in the Featherweight category, passing legend Jose Aldo into this statistics.
After the event ends, president of UFC, Dana White, praised the Australian’s appearance, stressing that he managed to defeat a younger and invincible opponent, while at the same time the warrior repeatedly demanding the outcome of the confrontation.
It was incredible. He’s an extraordinary warrior. To come here and thus defeat a younger and invincible opponent… Volkan is unbelievable. He was the aggressor, the one demanding the outcome. Volk was built differently, White said.
At the age of 38, Volkanovski continues to testify that he remains one of the greatest names of martial arts mix, defending his throne in front of a new generation of fighters.
