In the case of October 25th, European Day of Justice, Justice Minister Jeton Shasivari said an independent judiciary, a professional prosecutor and responsible institutions are the basis for a rule-run state and trust among citizens.

In his message, Shasivar stressed that justice is the foundation of a state governed by rule of law, a defender of the freedom and dignity of each person, as well as an indication of the maturity of institutions.

Without an independent judiciary, a professional prosecutor and responsible institutions, there is no legal security, no equality and no true trust, Shasivar said.

He stressed that his determination as justice minister is to build a judicial system in which the law will be above any interest, justice will depend on no one’s power, and every citizen will have equal rights for defence and fair treatment.

According to Shasivar, the state needs a judiciary that rules independently, impartially and within a reasonable term, a prosecutor who acts professionally and unselectively, and institutions that will justify trust through concrete results, integrity and accountability.

The minister stressed that reforms in the judiciary should not only be assessed by the number of adopted laws, but, above all, by changes that citizens will actually feel, including more efficient procedures, better decisions, greater legal security and equal law enforcement for all.

Referring to the country’s European future, Shasivar stressed that this implies implementing European standards in all institutions, consistent implementation of reforms and accountability without exceptions.

Trust in justice is not required. Not by statements, but by actions. Not with promise, but with results, Schazivar stressed.

He concluded that justice is the obligation, responsibility is duty, and trust is won by sending a message of congratulations on the European Day of Justice, October 25th.
