Peja Mayor Gazmend Muharzier has said that following the assassination of Arlinda Zekiaj in Vitomirica, the municipality has demanded full verification of every step and contact institutions have had concerning the case.

Through a Facebook post, Muhhazier has expressed condolences to Zekiaj’s family, calling the occasion an alarm for society and institutional mechanisms.

After we saw its recent public and institutional concerns and calls, we immediately requested a mirror and complete verification of every step and contact our institutions have had in this case. We’re not going to allow any kind of cover-up or downplaying responsibility, Mujarri wrote.

He has said that commitment to the protection of women and to ensure that no calls for help remain unanswered will continue, adding that the municipality will co-operate with justice institutions for the full dawn of the case.

The tragedy that took place in Vitomirica, Pec, has deeply shaken us all. The loss of the life of Arlinda Zekiaj is a great pain for the family, but even a strong alarm leg for all our society and institutional mechanisms, he wrote. /Telegraph/
