The recent images of Albert Sylajt’s arrest — the top suspect in the murder of Arlinda Zekiaj — have been published, which shocked public opinion in Kosovo.

Sylaj, who was sought by Kosovo Police, was arrested Tuesday evening on October 27, 2026, about 23:40 in Decani, following intensive operational and investigative commitments.

He allegedly on October 25th 2026, in the village of Vitomirica in Peja, killed his sister-in-law, Arlinda Zekivan.

The serious murder had caused numerous reactions in public opinion, especially after reporting that the victim had earlier sought protection from responsible institutions.

According to the Kosovo Police, the location and arrest of the suspects were made thanks to the operational actions of police units, as well as the co-operation with citizens.

Police have announced that further procedural actions will be conducted in co-ordination with competent justice bodies.
