French police have arrested 135 people Saturday, in the context of protests taking place in different countries in France, Interior Minister Laurent Nunez has announced.

Protests are being held in more than 100 locations across the country, while thousands of police officers are committed to ensuring security, fearing that last week’s riots could be repeated.

Restrictions and bans on protests have been imposed in many parts of France, while several gatherings have been allowed to take place in cities such as Leell and Marseille.

In Paris, police have evacuated protesters from the plaza d’Place de la Bastille, moving them to another part.

Last Saturday, more than 550 thousand people participated in protests against rising oil prices and high cost of living. Marches were initially held peacefully, but later degenerated in violence, with protesters burning and destroying property.

During last week’s protests, at least 2 thousand and 700 people were arrested in France.
