The Special Prosecutor has reacted to reports of firing investigations into several ministers and former ministers, denying that decisions have been made as a result of changes in the leadership of this institution.
Through a media communiqué, the prosecution has indicated that investigations into Victory Minister Pacolli and former Prime Minister Faton Peci have been fired by the same special prosecutor who started them.
About F. P. and F. P., whose investigations were launched at 04.07.2025 after the investigation was conducted, the same special prosecutor who started them, in 26.10.2026, has decided on their vacation. Decisions to cease these investigations are taken after assessing the evidence and concrete circumstances of each case, in line with the legal criteria, and not as a consequence of changes in the institution’s leadership, the communique says.
The prosecution has made it known that the investigation has been fired against the former head of the Vushtrri municipality, Xhafer Tahiri, on two separate occasions.
Also, this institution has announced that a criminal complaint against Prizren Mayor Shacir Totaj has been rejected.
Meanwhile, in the case of former Environment Minister Lieburn Aliu, the prosecution has clarified that the decision to drop the investigation was taken on September 11, 2026, ahead of changes in the institution’s leadership.
The Special Prosecutor’s response comes even after the Pristina chairman’s interview with Progress Rama on Friday.
At the end of the communiqué, the prosecution has guaranteed that prosecutors have full professional and institutional independence in investigating and decision-making cases they deal with, without pressure, influence or interference.
