Pierre Moscovic, former French Finance Minister and former European Commissioner, has announced his resignation from the European Court of Auditors less than a year after taking office.
Moscovic has cited personal reasons, especially the difficulties to reconcile family life with the position in Luxembourg, as well as the desire to contribute to the public debate in France on the eve of presidential elections.

The prospect of my family life, which I am deeply devoted to, with life in Luxembourg, is very complicated, he has stated in an interview for the French magazine Le Point.
He has also stressed that, given his experience, he wants to participate in the public debate in France in a period he has described as difficult, even tragic.
Moscow, who served as minister, Socialist MP and European commissioner, and has been the first president of the French Court of Auditors, joined the European Court of Auditors on January 1st for a six-year term.
