On Sunday after that, parliamentary elections were held in Serbia, which brought historic results to Albanians and significant political changes in our northern neighbour. The Albanian coalition received 27.670 votes, full of 1,233 more than in 2020, marking the highest results of Albanians since 2000 and securing two parliamentary mandates, Kurti has declared.

He has praised the unification of Albanian political subjects, naming the outcome as evidence that overall interest can be placed on the party.

Albanians, though the fourth national population minority in Serbia, ranked second in votes and the first, along with Hungarians, for mandates among 9 national minority lists. This result is the result of the unification of Albanian political subjects, which, despite differences between them, placed general interest in the party. For this I thank the leaders of each political subject, candidates, activists, and citizens who made this achievement possible, he has expressed itself.

Speaking of the overall election outcome in Serbia, Kurti has said they have brought a reconfiguration of the political scene. According to him, the Student List came first, President Aleksandar Vuciq’s coalition lost the parliamentary majority, while Ivica Dacic’s list failed to ensure representation in the Assembly.

These elections also brought a reconfiguration of the political scene to Serbia. The Student List came first, Aleksandar Vuciqi’s coalition lost the parliamentary majority, while Ivica Dacic’s list remained outside the Assembly. A quarter of a century after Milosevic’s defeat and SESHel at the beginning of the 20th century, their political descendants, Vuciqi and Daciqi, were lost. Currently, we know who lost power in Serbia, but we still don’t know who won it. We hope that this political change will be accompanied by the positive change in Belgrade’s approach to the Republic of Kosovo and Albanians in Presevo, Bujanoc and Medvedja, Kurti has said.

Following his speech, Kurti has also spoken of the need for confronting Serbia with the past, citing the denization of political discours, institutional discrimination and internal democratisation as necessary steps for normalising relations with neighbouring countries.

Cohesion with the past, denounification of political discours, institutional derimination and internal democratisation should create conditions for normalising relations with neighbours, he has stated.

The Government head has also stressed that the whitelight of crimes committed against Albanian civilians, the identification of mass cemetery locations, and the definition of the fate of missing persons remain obligations to victims and their families.

The extent of crimes against Albanian civilians, the whereabouts of mass cemetery and the fate of missing persons is due to victims and their families. Without the truth about the past, trust for the future cannot be built. We want good neighbourly relations, peace and co-operation on the basis of equality and mutual respect. Therefore, we hope that new developments will pave the way for the full normalisation of relations between Kosovo and Serbia, with mutual recognition, Kurti has added.
