Slovenian prime minister sets condition on Serbia for the road to the EU: Surrender UDB archives

Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša has declared that Slovenia will not support Serbia’s progress towards membership in the European Union without the delivery of archives of the former Yugoslavia’s secret services.

His reaction comes after elections in Serbia, where, according to the report, the Students List won. Janša has said Slovenia would welcome the acceleration of Serbia’s negotiations with the EU, but only if that condition is met.

Through a post on the X platform, he stressed that he would give no consent to Serbia’s progress towards the EU, until the country hands over Slovenia all UDB archives, SDSM, Yugoslav People’s Army and other services to its h – RSPJs associated with Slovenia.

Following this reaction, Janša also distributed a post by Igor Omerza, who filed claims on European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, with the UDB.

Omerza, referring to his book on Kos, said the relevant documentation could be found in secret political police archives. Meanwhile, Marta Kos has repeatedly denied claims that he worked as an informant for the Yugoslav secret service.

On the other hand, MP and party secretary Swoboda, Matthew Grah, criticised Janša, charging that he is exploiting the situation for domestic political confrontation.

The issue of opening the archives of the former Yugoslavia’s secret services remains a sensitive political theme in the region.
