About 1,200 Palestinians have been forced to flee their homes in Hebron, the occupied West Coast, after an Israeli military operation, while another 1,300 are in danger of moving. During the operation, Israeli forces have arrested nearly 70 Palestinians, according to Palestinian organisations and officials.
News of the evacuation of residents was disclosed Saturday by a Palestinian official, who warned that hundreds of other families could lose their homes. Meanwhile, the nongovernmental club of Palestinian Prisoners announced that the arrests were conducted during Friday and Saturday. Israeli officials have not commented on these arrests, Reuters reports.

The military operation began after an attack Friday, when two Palestinian armed men opened fire on a military checkpoint near Hebron, killing two Israeli soldiers.
After this incident, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyah announced that the army would undergo a large – scale operation.
According to the Israeli Army, the operation is under way in Al-Jaladah and Ein Deir Baha neighbourhoods, near Hebron’s entrance, with the aim of finding armed men and sequentising weapons. The military has also announced it will tear down buildings under the operation.
The Palestinian authority has condemned military intervention, calling it collective punishment.
