Kosovo Police Inspectorate ( The IPK has found failures in dealing with the case of Arlinda Zekaj, who was killed four days ago in Vitomirica, Pec, after Kosovo police had not documented the execution of the September 7th defence order, while the second order was executed on a six-day delay.
Zekij had requested protection warrants against her former husband, Sylaj lives.
The preliminary findings of the IPK show that the second defence order, issued on October 16th, was executed on October 22nd, following the intervention of the Inspectorate, which had previously accepted information from Zekiaj himself.
And so, The IPK has found that the chain of police command had not addressed an email on October 23rd, through which a police investigator had sought random evaluation and additional assistance.
In this e – mail, the investigator recommended that during the time of Zekij’s stay home, she be visited by police patrols and more frequent communication was maintained with him in order to identify the situation inside the home.
According to the IPK, failures include dealing with domestic violence, risk level assessment and execution of court decisions. The identified responsibilities relate to the Regional Police Directorate in Pec, the Police Station in Pec, the Substation at Vitomirica, as well as investigative units at the regional level and at the station level.
With regard to these findings, 11 police officials were suspended today, with the recommendation of the IPK.

The inspector has indicated that he will continue investigative and verifiable actions to examine the way police had dealt with reports of the deceased.
