Elon Musk targets joining Tesla and SpaceX before Trump’s departure

billionaire Elon Mürk is looking into the possibility of joining Tesla and SpaceX companies in a giant worth about $3.5 trillion in what could be the biggest union in history. According to Euronews, the goal is to conclude the deal before US President Donald Trump leaves the White House.

Musk has confirmed this week that both companies have established independent committees to consider the possibility of joining, naming this a good idea.

According to Bloomberg, quoted by EuronewsThe agreement is intended to be announced in the first half of 2027 and to be completed before January 2029, when Trump’s presidential mandate ends.

Such a union would be the continuation of Musk’s efforts to unite his businesses. In 2016, Tesla bought the SolarCity company, and in 2025 the XAI artificial intelligence company absorbed the social platform X. In February of this year, SpaceX absorb xAI.

According to Euronews, artificial intelligence is one of the main reasons for the possible union. Tesla and SpaceX are already co-operating in the development of the Terafab artificial intelligence factory in Texas, while Optimus humanoid robots and Tesla’s wireless vehicles can benefit from SpaceX’s computer capacities.

Financial results are also part of this plan. SpaceX has reported the first quarterly profit of $4.4 billion since the scholarship list, while Tesla has scored 43% of net profit to $787 million.

The Union could enable Musk even greater control over companies. Currently, it owns about 48% of SpaceX and more than 80% of voting rights, while in Tesla it owns about 20% of the shares.

The conclusion of the agreement during Trump’s mandate could ensure a more favourable political expectation, though it would have to undergo review by regulatory authorities and shareholders.

However, Musk has warned that the union is not certain, as the agreement requires the support of the owners of more than half of Tesla’s shares.
