The decision was made after talks between coach and club executives, at a time when pressure on him has increased significantly due to poor results.

Manchester Unitedi suffered deep loss of 3:0 at home from Bournemouth over the weekend, bringing to eight straight-up matches in all races.

However, club leaders have decided that Carrick will remain on duty for the trip to APUford Bridge, while his future will be reviewed after this confrontation.

According to reports, Eddie Howe and Julian Nagelsmann are the two main candidates to replace the English permanently. However, the club is not expected to appoint a new coach in such a short term, so the final decision could be made after the match with Chelsea.

Howe reportedly is willing to discuss the possibility of taking over the Red Days, but such an agreement would cost Manchester United about six million pounds of compensation for Newcastle United, his former club.

After confronting Chelsea, Unitedi will hold two more fights at home before the November International Break, against Aston Village and Rome.

For Carrick, the match against Chelsea can be crucial to his future at Old Tuffford, as the team must react after the negative series of results.
