The Trump administration says it has revoted over 300,000 visas

President Donald Trump’s administration has revoted over 300,000 American visas during its second mandate, the State Department said Tuesday, as the federal government continues its widespread crackdown on immigration.

The figures showed an acceleration at the pace of visa revocations in recent weeks, foreign media write, sends out Telegrafi.

In an update released on August 10th, the State Department had placed the number of visa revocations since the beginning of Trump’s current mandate in January 2025 on over 175,000.

Trump says his crackdown on immigration and deportation efforts are intended to improve domestic security.

But human rights advocates say the crackdown has violated the rights of the fair legal process and freedom of speech and has created an uncertain environment, especially for ethnic minorities, which have raised concerns about racial profile.

Announcing the latest number at X, State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott said the Trump administration has revoted more visas at a faster pace than any administration in history.

Pigott stressed that the administration had zero tolerance for foreigners here with visas breaking the law, committing fraud or damaging our national security.

Among the visa revocations that have been convicted, especially by human rights advocates, are those of pro-Palestinian foreign protesters who demonstrate against the attacks by US ally Israel, Gaza, and foreigners because of their comments to social media about the murder of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.

In addition to trying to deport foreign protesters, the Trump administration has implemented tight controls in the social media of migrants and visa applicants.

Human rights advocates say the government has used national security reasons to target critics and has used isolated cases of fraud to widely target immigrant communities, such as the Somali-American community in Minnesota.

While Trump campaigned in 2024 to prevent illegal immigration, his administration has made legal immigration more difficult, for example, by setting expensive fees for certain working visas. /Telegraphy/
