The ruling Vetevendosje movement in Kosovo has blamed ties with the old commander and the history of impunity for the culture of the strong and the consequences that, according to her, have left in society, in response to the assassination of Arlinda Zekaj in Vitomirica of Pec.

In the Facebook response, the ruling party has said these phenomena are not isolated, but are the result of a story that, according to it, has seriously affected Kosovo society.

) DO NOT WE CAN DO YOU PREASE TO VIOLENCE AND V RASINS!
Arlinda Zeka’s murder has shocked and angered us. Her family expresses our deepest condolences. Another woman was taken away from the violence of a man, a family member of her husband. Another family remained with the pain of an irreversible loss. And a 12-year-old boy was left without a mother.

Since the beginning of this year, women and men, girls and boys have been killed in Kosovo. Publicly reported cases show 17 victims, of them eight women and nine men.

These figures testify to the heavy burden of killer violence in our society.
The murder of women has a special social size, patriarchal power, control over women, and denial of her freedom. Though severe, she has been taking the forms of childicides in our country over the years because the killings have motives and the nature of denial of the right to life of the woman as such.

While the murders of men and boys also confront us with the culture of strength, revenge, and conflict resolution through weapons.

These are not separate phenomena. The culture of the strong, the privileges acquired through ties to old power from one arm, and the history of impunity left over about two decades have paid grave consequences to our society.

Violence is not power. Rule over another is not authority. The gun is not an argument. Killing is an inhuman act. It’s the end of man.

Protecting life also requires social justice, economic independence, and accessible public services. Our government has worked and will work unhindered to help raise every family, every woman.

Institutions such as municipalities, social work centres, police and prosecution, and courts must prevent, protect, investigate and punish. These make them independent of the patriarchal mentality and the excuse for violence against the weak. Their decisions cannot be guided by their beliefs, prejudices, or personal perceptions. They must rely on morality stemming from the law and human universal rights, having at the foundation the obligation to protect each one’s life, dignity, and freedom.

Any ignored threat can result in tragedy.
We refuse to allow fear to become a way of life, nor can violence be inherited as a social norm.

We cannot give in to murderers, nor to the culture that reasons and protects them, is said in response.
