Ih-chair of Alliance for Future of Kosovo ( The AAK — now Kosovo Assembly MP Ramush Haradinaj — has called for responsibility and accountability concerning the murder of Arlinda Zekiaj in Vitomirica Peja.
In a proposal for Economy Online, Haradinaj has said this event should serve as a moment of reflection for all, underlining that it is necessary to have responsibility for what happened.

Arlinda Zekaj was killed on October 25th around 9:00 at Vitomirica in Pec.
On October 22nd, just three days before the assassination, Arlinda had addressed justice institutions, expressing concern for her security.
I wish the day would not come when you and the responsible institutions would be forced to answer the account only after my life was taken away, was her warning.
According to the prosecution, Zekij allegedly was killed with a strong tool from her brother-in-law, Albert Sylaj.
Sylaj, was arrested Tuesday night in Decani.
The suspect has been located and arrested around 23:40, following a police operation and co-operation with citizens.

The arrest was carried out tonight, around 23:40 in Decani, following actions taken by the respective police units, Kosovo Police have announced.
On Tuesday, the Constitutional Court in Pec has handed the defendants a month in custody, Jeton Sylaj, former husband of Arlinda Zekinaj, under suspicion of criminal activity — the contempt of the Court.
The warrant for custody had been issued by the Constitutional Prosecutor in Pec.
The prosecution’s announcement states that he has not complied with the Peja Court’s decision to stay in a distance. At the request, the prosecution has made it known that Sylaj has threatened the victim and that she has thrown her clothes from the laundry girl in the backyard.
According to the request, on October 25, 2026, around 17:58, on the street of Mt.O. Dedushajı, in the village of Vitomirica, the Pec municipality, the defendant allegedly failed to comply with the 1st clause of the Foundation Court’s ordination in Pec, dated October 16, 2026. Despite the court’s order not to exercise physical or psychic violence, not to prevent the victim’s movement, not to offend, disturb or threaten him, the defendant is suspected to have again committed psychological violence against his wife, now the late A.Z., addressing him with threatening words. He is also suspected of taking clothes from the victim to the laundry and throwing them into the backyard. With these actions, the defendant allegedly committed a criminal offence — from Article 393, paragraph 1, of the Republic of Kosovo’s Penal Code — says the report.
On Wednesday, the Initiative for Religious Thought and Action has held a national protest in Pristina, following the murder of Arlinda Zekitaj.
The main message of the protest was: Kill women treated as national emergency.
The assassination of Arlinda Zekiaj occurred nine days after the court ruling that had enabled the latter to return home, and three days after her complaint to the institutions of justice.
