An eight – year – old girl has been severely hurt after being attacked by at least one wolf within the animal space of a zoo in Germany.
The event took place on Wednesday during a children’s organised event at Wild Animal Park in New York, south of Berlin.
According to officials from the Teltow-Fläming district, the girl was rushed to hospital for medical treatment.
At the time of the attack, there were two more girls inside the Arctic wolves. A zoo worker has intervened on time, preventing them from being attacked.
Authorities have announced that the wolves were at that moment being given water.
After the incident, the zoo has been closed until a second notice, as investigations started to whiteen the circumstances of the event.
This incident comes several months after another incident in Hamburg, where a wolf bit a woman in a commercial area.
According to authorities, he is believed to have been the first such attack since the return of wolves to Germany in 1998.
